![]() ![]() It's refreshing really, the cast, even the main character, are/is rife with self-interest, ambition, and cowardice, characteristics that are somewhat blunted by the ever present humoristic bent of the work, but are still there and make them more human, believable if anything. And fortunately, it doesn't gloss too much over the reality of the period. I don't really remember any other semi-serious treatment of Sengoku perios so it has that going for it that too. It's impressively self assured about it's very own and very eclectic mix of many elements and it has very clear idea where it wants to go from the start. Overall I enjoyed my time with the series. With this last arc being so focused on Rikyu and politics I feared the show forgot to put finishing touches on Furuta's journey but this last episode veered back into it in a surprising way and finished it with a fine if succint bowtie.
